Periodontics is the area of dental practice used for treating gum disease. If gum disease (or periodontitis) is discovered during your routine checkup, there are a number of solutions for treatment. At Mancuso Dental, our goal is to stabilize and treat gum disease and help you regain optimal oral health.
It is easy to stray away from normal routines of dental exams and cleanings. Sometimes it takes a deep cleaning with subsequent visits to get everything back on track! Deep cleaning which include scaling and root planing is the most common, non-surgical solution for gum disease treatment. This will remove any plaque and tartar from your teeth while also helping your gums become healthy once again. These procedures are performed under local anesthetic to make them painless. Once this deep cleaning is completed, the health of your gums and teeth are monitored very closely to ensure proper healing and overall improved oral health.
Checkups and Cleanings
A basic dental checkup and cleaning at Mancuso Dental can prevent expensive, major surgery down the line. The ADA (American Dental Association) recommends to have a preventative visits every 6 months to have your teeth and gums checked for any problems. These exams can identify any problems with your teeth, and/or gums.
